In December 1985, the “Old Time Gospel Hour” was born.  The birth of the broadcast came about because of a visitor to Calvary Baptist Tabernacle who encouraged Pastor Hazel to share his preaching with  the people of the Caribbean. Reverend Hazel always had a great love and passion for radio and thought about the idea but had no money for equipment to begin a radio broadcast.  A visit to Hillvale Baptist Church in Clinton, Tennessee changed all that.  A member of the church decided to finance the purchase of equipment to get the programme started.

On Pastor Hazel’s return to St Kitts, contact was made with Mr Tom Sneed the then Vice President of the New Testament Baptist Enterprises for a one hour opening at Radio Paradise to broadcast the new programme which was to be called the “Old Time Gospel Hour”.  From the very first airing, people loved it and they started supporting it to keep it on air.  The broadcast is presently heard on Dominion Radio on Sunday afternoons from 5:00 p. m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday Evenings from 9:00 p. m. to 10:00 p. m. and on Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a. m. Dr Hazel is the principle speaker assisted by other ministers who visit the church on and for special occasions.
